Saturday session

This morning we're watching Citizen Kane, which many people and publications have declared as one of, if not the, greatest movie(s) of all time. If you've seen the 1941 Orson Welles film, you can test your knowledge of details from the movie.

The film is based on the life of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. Hearst, known for practicing yellow journalism, hated the film and tried to stop the film from being aired. Xanadu, the reclusive palace of main character Charles Foster Kane, is based on the Hearst castle in San Simeon, California.

Once the film ends, students will write about what we watched. Some may write about how films today are different from this 1941 film, others whether they agree or disagree that Citizen Kane is the "greatest film of all time" and others may write a movie review of the film.
